Radiographs and Ultrasound
When we need to figure out what is wrong with your pet we routinely use x-rays to help identify the issue, as well as rule out possible problems.
Radiographs provide valuable information about a pet’s bones, gastrointestinal tract(stomach, intestines, colon), respiratory tract(lungs), heart, and genitourinary system(bladder, prostate). We use radiology alone or in conjunction with other diagnostic tools. Interpretation of radiographs requires great skill on the part of our veterinarian,
We are equipped with the latest model of digital radiology. This technology can provide you with a much faster diagnosis for your pet. It also uses less radiation than a traditional X-ray. Having digital X-rays also provides us the opportunity to send your pet’s images off to a specialist for further interpretation if need be, without compromising the images.
We have an ultrasound machine in-clinic which we use for regional ultrasound studies. The examples of a regional ultrasound that we provide include an assessment of the kidneys, prostate gland or bladder. As well as diagnosis of fluid in the abdominal cavity or thoracic cavity, and diagnosis of tumors on the spleen or liver.
For comprehensive abdominal ultrasound or cardiac ultrasound, we call on the services of an ultrasonographer who does the scanning and then provides us with a comprehensive report.
